![]() She was a lifelong member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Hillsboro where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School, and was active in Ladies Aid. ![]() She was a pioneer in the field of special education in the Traill County area. ![]() During those years she received a scholarship from Mayville State and the University of North Dakota where she studied advanced strategies to use while serving special needs children. After some time away from education, and, beginning in 1958, she taught special needs children in a one-room setting in Hillsboro, serving students from Hillsboro, Mayville, Portland, Hunter, Buxton, and Hatton. She married Herman Koering in 1940, and they raised six children. That part of her career took her to a one-room school in rural Mayville, and two years later to Caledonia, ND where she taught grades 7-8. ![]() She graduated from Esmond High School and then attended Mayville State Teachers College where she graduated with a two-year degree allowing her to teach in grades 1-8. Beulah was born November 28, 1915, to Asle and Ida (Erickson) Gunderson in Esmond, ND. Beulah Genevieve Adeline (Gunderson) Koering, 102, Hillsboro, ND, died September 16, 2018, at Sanford Hillsboro. ![]()
